Built & Spaces has launched its own software which it claims can turn a customer’s dream into a fully constructed house within 10 weeks.
Designed in-house, the Build My Home app allows customers to assemble their new home room-by-room on the computer, adding different modules to meet their needs for kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms and other living areas.
The unique, component-led system also enables customisation in the design stages, minimising waste during manufacture and construction.
The Modern Method of Construction (MMC) specialist allots one week for the design process, but would be able to complete a blueprint for a four-bedroom house within 24 hours for a time-sensitive project.
Manufacture of the panels for the project is carried out to the firm’s exacting specifications over eight weeks before being checked for quality by Built & Spaces staff. Foundations are laid over two days before the frame and panels are assembled on-site by staff within a week.
The Build My Home software creates an inventory of all parts required for the build, meaning that customers’ quotes reflect what elements are used. Built & Spaces is able to accurately estimate labour costs as on-site construction is not affected by weather and other delays.
Currently, the firm is working on a web-based version of the Build My Home software that will allow customers to design their house from the comfort of their own living room.
The firm recently demonstrated the system at the Grand Designs Live Show at Birmingham’s NEC, having been invited to display its home in the show’s editorial space.
Steve Wilkie, director of Built & Spaces, comments: “Everything we do is based on making the process of creating your own house easier and quicker.”
“Our unique app lets customers create their home room-by-room, adding the spaces and features that are most important to them. Customers can be standing inside their constructed house just ten weeks later thanks to our unique component-led system that lets our staff assemble the home by hand on site.”
He adds: “I don’t believe that any other modular housing company can build a customer’s house so quickly, while offering such a personalised design.”
Recently, we asked if modular homes are the solution to the worldwide housing crisis and looked at the world’s tallest modular residential building nearing completion.
