This is not a balanced article and is acting as a mouthpiece for the propaganda spouted out by the Resolution Foundation. There is a very big difference between someone owning a second home to let out to other people, (or even convert to flats or HMO's), than a second home for their own use which reduces the availability of homes for others to live in. This is an article about the I want it all and I want it now mentality from people who want the flash cars, foreign holidays, latest smartphone, etc and then complain that they can't save enough for a deposit on a house.

The housing crisis is only going to get worse. The Tory Government is punishing Landlords for buying off-plan (and providing vital seed capital for developers to build more), brought derelict houses back into use, converted overly large houses into flats/HMOs, BUT not anymore. Increasing taxes to over 100%, funnily enough, is deterring Landlords from investing. What this country needs is more investment in housing not less. The Tories are banking on the incentives they are giving their big corporate donor to build lots of affordable places to rent. Dream on. The train crash housing crisis is heading for the buffers with the Tories foot on the gas pedal.
