Legal specialist joins East Anglian conveyancing practice
Essex and Suffolk law firm Ellisons has strengthened its residential property team with the appointment of a new senior associate who will be based in the firm’s Bury St Edmunds office and will help advise property investors on leasehold enfranchisement.
Sarah Osborne has joined the business with more than 16 years’ experience, specialising in leasehold enfranchisement, advising on lease extensions, freehold purchases and right to manage claims. She works with a range of clients – from individual flat owners and residential management companies to property investors – and is experienced in handling technically complex matters.
She will also be responsible for helping clients navigate the market changes caused by the Renters’ Rights Act and the likely increased demand for specialist advice that it brings.
A technical area
Carly Callaghan, legal director and head of residential property at Ellisons, said: “Sarah’s appointment is an important one for our clients. Leasehold enfranchisement is a highly technical area and, against the backdrop of continuing reform, clients need clear, specialist advice they can trust. Sarah brings deep expertise and a practical, client‑focused approach, which strengthens our ability to guide clients confidently through complex enfranchisement matters and help them make informed decisions.”

Osborne said she hoped to help clients navigate the new landscape. “Leasehold enfranchisement can be unfamiliar and stressful for many clients, and I am looking forward to working with the team to help clients understand their options and move forward with confidence.”
Osborne has experience representing clients before the First‑tier Tribunal and the County Court and has acted on a wide range of enfranchisement matters. Before qualifying as a solicitor in 2013, she was a licensed conveyancer and served as a member of the Council for Licensed Conveyancers.
