The sale of a four-bedroomed barn conversion in the Cotswolds in Bond Wolfe’s next auction could soon see the new owners rubbing shoulders with the “Chipping Norton set”.

The town of Chipping Norton has become the social epicentre of the Cotswolds, attracting the likes of David and Victoria Beckham, Jeremy Clarkson and former PM David Cameron to buy homes there.

Shirlstone Barn is a four-bedroomed, semi-detached barn conversion in Upper End, Salford – a small rural hamlet in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, approximately two miles north-west of Chipping Norton. The property will have a guide price of £495,000+ when it comes up for sale in Bond Wolfe’s livestreamed auction on Wednesday December 10.

James Rossiter, senior auction valuer at Bond Wolfe, says: “Set in the rolling Cotwolds countryside and made of the traditional honey-coloured stone so well known in the area, this could be someone’s dream home. The property needs some tender loving care and modernisation throughout, reflecting what is a low guide price for a property in this extremely popular area.

“The barn conversion sits in a large plot of around 1.25 acres which could also make it suitable for development, subject to planning permission. As well as its four bedrooms, this barn conversion has the benefit of a driveway and detached double garage with separate access to the land. The price and location will make Shirlstone Barn one of the star lots in our auction, and we are expecting considerable interest from potential bidders across the UK and overseas.”

The property’s ground floor has a hall with guest cloakroom, two reception rooms, one with an open fireplace, a kitchen, utility room and downstairs bedroom with ensuite bathroom.

Upstairs is a landing and three bedrooms, one with a bathroom, as well as the family bathroom, and there is oil-fired central heating and double glazing throughout.

Outside is the driveway, detached double garage, side and rear gardens and paddock with separate access from a lane.

The sale of Shirlstone Barn is in association with estate agency King & Woolley, and it will be among scores of lots appearing in Bond Wolfe’s auction starting at 8.30am on Wednesday December 10.

The auction will be livestreamed via Bond Wolfe’s website with remote bidding by proxy, telephone or internet. For more details and to register to bid visit https://www.bondwolfe.com/auctions/properties/, email [email protected] or call or call 0121 312 1212 or 01902 928 510.
