An unusual development opportunity presents itself to investors later this month.
A former anti-aircraft operations room is set to go under the hammer as a development opportunity in a live-streamed commercial property auction on August 21 with a guide price of £55,000.
The property is located in an elevated semi-rural position to the east of the coastal village of Inverkip around five miles south of Greenock and eight miles north of Largs.
The village has a population of around 3,500 and is essentially residential in character, with a marina and railway station.
The former anti-aircraft operations room dates to the 1950’s and is formed over ground and lower ground floor levels, essentially being a flat roofed concrete structure. It has a gross internal area of 12,380 sq. ft. on a 1.8-acre site.
It was subsequently used by the Royal Navy until the late 1960’s and known as HMS Dalriada but has been unused since.
A steel frame has been added to the flat roof in connection with lapsed planning consent for conversion to residential use. The lower ground floor level is currently flooded, and viewings are strictly by appointment.
Kevin Bell, partner at Shepherd Chartered Surveyors in Ayr, says: “This former anti-aircraft operations room represents a unique development opportunity. Inverclyde council granted planning consent for conversion to a single dwelling in 2010 and interested parties should make their own enquiries with the council.”
The online auction will be held on August 21 at 2:30pm and interested parties should register at https://www.shepherd.co.uk/auctions-remote-bidding/.
