A property next to a restaurant can be a difficult investment because of noise, smells and traffic – but a home going on the market in a Berkshire village may be an exception.

The three bedroom cottage in Bray is literally next door to the three Michelin-starred Fat Duck, and two further world-beating eateries just down the road.

The Fat Duck is run by troubled restaurateur Heston Blumenthal and has been named as one of the 50 best restaurants in the world with a reputation for innovative modern British cuisine. And the cottage now for sale is also just a short walk from three more of Bray’s world-leading restaurants: The Waterside Inn, The Hinds Head, and The Crown.

The 125 square metre cottage – on sale through Foxtons for £825,000 – has private gardens front and rear, a large lounge with wood burner, dining room with sitting area, cottage kitchen, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms. Dating back to 1901, it also has wooden beams, high ceilings and large windows.

The village of Bray, which dates back to the Doomsday Book of 1086, also boasts a three-mile frontage on the River Thames featuring riverside walks and a marina.

The nearest rail station is Maidenhead where the Elizabeth Line provides access to central London and Heathrow airport.

A Foxtons spokesperson says: “Oozing graceful charm and elegant period features, great room sizes and high ceilings, this lovely cottage really is the perfect place to come home to.  All this, plus becoming part of a real village community and offering an enviable lifestyle.  As well as the fine dining, there are acres of parkland, woodland walks and cycleways on the doorstep and a beautiful stretch of the river.”
