While 2020 was an utterly unique year, 2021 has in some ways been even more extraordinary. The first few months of the year began with a lockdown, then came the release of all restrictions in mid-July, and the reimposing of some in December to combat the emergence of the Omicron variant.

Although recent studies regarding the severity of the variant have been promising, and the rollout of the booster programme continues to offer good protection, there is a good chance that the first few months of 2022 will remain a tad uncertain.

From a property investment point of view, the main trends we’ve seen over the last year have undeniably been a major growth in commercial to resi conversions, a refocusing on green homes in the lead-up to COP26, the continuing rise of Build to Rent and co-living, and a number of regeneration projects all across the UK.

On PIT, we’ve run series on Crossrail, Black History Month, commercial to resi, green property and International Women’s Day, and also warned against the increasing dangers of property scams, cryptocurrency investment fraud and property investment courses run by bogus ‘get rich quick’ operators promising people the world.

We will return in 2022 with our first newsletter being sent out on Wednesday January 5. In the meantime, we’d like to wish all our readers a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
