Law firm Bishop & Sewell are holding a free webinar on Tuesday September 28 at 6pm. The webinar will discuss a variety of issues that emerge in practice when owners of flats and leasehold houses are faced with an absent landlord.
Legal experts from the firm will be on hand to give leaseholders advice.
The one-hour webinar is the second in a series of leasehold-focussed webinars. Chris Macartney, partner and joint head of Bishop & Sewell’s Landlord and Tenant team, and Mark Chick, senior partner and head of the Landlord and Tenant team, will help leaseholders understand the options available to them and discover their best course of action.
Macartney said: “Missing landlords can cause major problems for leaseholders. During this seminar, we aim to share our experience and provide options for anyone facing these issues.”
Macartney is a legal practitioner in residential leasehold property law and regularly advises both landlords and tenants in complicated collective enfranchisement and lease extension claims.
He has cultivated a niche practice in acting for leaseholders in applications for new leases from the Crown, advising and acting for leaseholders in claims to acquire the freehold where the landlord is absent under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987 and acquiring interests where the crown has disclaimed their interest in the building following the dissolution of a limited company. He also regularly advises in other Landlord & Tenant matters relating to both commercial and residential property.
On the day, there will be a Q&A session that will give attendees the chance to ask questions on a range of leasehold issues ranging from the implications of falling lease length, ground rents and service charges, lease extensions and freehold acquisitions, and making alterations and improvements required under the lease.
