Happy New Year! We return with another auction roundup, from a brand-new hire at Bond Wolfe, to a creative video from Connect UK Auctions.

From office junior to Bond Wolfe Auction boss

Sue Randell has become the newly-appointed chief operating officer (COO) of Bond Wolfe Auctions, having first joined the business as an office junior in 1992.

Randell has been promoted from operations and marketing director. She began her career with Bond Wolfe at the age of 16 and worked her way up the residential and commercial agency team before moving into the auctions department in 1999.

She comments: “I have worked with the current team at Bond Wolfe Auctions since 2007 when the auction department merged with Bigwood which was acquired in 2006.”

“Together, we have built what is arguably the UK’s most successful auction business. When we launched Bond Wolfe Auctions in January 2019, it was with a record-breaking and award-winning team with over 300 years of combined property experience.”

“I am very honoured that the board of Bond Wolfe Auctions has placed its trust in me, and I look forward to helping the business grow in 2021 and beyond.”

Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of Bond Wolfe Auctions, adds: “This was one of the easiest decisions to make and the shortest board discussion in history.”

“Sue is part of the DNA of Bond Wolfe Auctions and she understands every single facet of how we work and who we are, and she shares our aspirations.”

Bond Wolfe’s October 2020 sale was the most successful in its history with total sales of over £21.1 million and a 92% success rate. The company sold 185 lots from the 201 offered at the sale.

Its live-streamed auctions have been a success, with 603,152 page views, 103,626 video tours watched and over 32,666 people tuning in to watch live.

Following the December sale, Bond Wolfe finished its second year 36% up, offering 1,135 lots and raising £111.3 million in sales (compared to last year’s £81.4 million) with an average success rate of 94%.

Connect UK Auctions- the new way of auction is…

While we’ve entered a new year, the coronavirus pandemic is still very much present, with England and Scotland now in another lockdown.

With physical auctions still off the cards for the foreseeable, Connect UK Auctions is reinforcing the benefits of online, live- streamed auctions.

Back in September, the auctioneer created an Auction Academy – a variety of videos structured to educate buyers, sellers and general property enthusiasts on all details of property auctions.

The videos are available to all and take the viewer through each auction process, as well as providing a thorough overview of all auction terminology.
