‘Ooh na na, where’s my home?’ – Rihanna’s £32m mansion up for sale

The former London home of Rihanna, the globally renowned singer, songwriter and actress, is currently up for sale for £32 million.

Located on St John’s Wood Park, the secure, gated double-fronted detached eight-bedroom house provides 6,332 sq ft (588 sq m) of ‘immaculately presented’ interiors and a carriage driveway. It benefits from a passenger lift, gymnasium, two floors of entertaining space and a large landscaped rear garden.

Barbados-born Robyn ‘Rihanna’ Fenty is globally famous for chart-topping singles including ‘Umbrella’, ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’, ‘Don’t Stop the Music’ and ‘Diamonds’, as well as Hollywood movies including Battleship (2012) and Ocean’s 8 (2018).

Her Instagram posts led to wide speculation in the press and social media on the whereabouts of her London mansion, where she set up base over two years ago. Since then, reports and photos in the media have shown her life in the house, including her enjoyment of the large kitchen for ice cream desserts, the garden for relaxation, local walks and even shopping at Sainsbury’s.

The property sits on St John’s Wood Park, a ‘beautiful’ tree-lined residential street in St John’s Wood, which provides easy access to the shops along the Finchley Road and St John’s Wood High Street and is within close proximity of St John’s Wood Underground Station and the open spaces of Primrose Hill and Regent’s Park.

Gary Hersham, founding director of Beauchamp Estates, says: “This magnificent house is perfect for a music, business or political mogul. It is one of the most important houses to come onto the market in the local area in recent years. It is an exceptional property with the garden floor and large garden superb for relaxation whilst the reception room on the raised ground floor is wonderful for big parties.”

Originally built in circa 1844 by wealthy builder William Holme Twentyman and designed by renowned architect John Shaw Junior, the home has been fully refurbished and modernised in recent years.

It offers ‘beautifully dressed’ multiple reception and family rooms, formal and casual dining rooms, a study/library, a large family kitchen and eight bedrooms – two of which can be configured to use as a suite and two configured to allow use as a self-contained flat/staff accommodation.

The garden floor opens onto a 21ft terrace which overlooks the 126ft deep by 130ft wide rear garden – a private green oasis given that 70% of homes in London’s five innermost boroughs do not have gardens and inner London gardens average 36 ft.

Meanwhile, the entertaining space has been designed so that the informal leisure areas are on the garden floor whilst the more formal entertaining spaces are on the raised ground level. The garden floor consists of a double living room which provides a family room and dining area with two sets of French doors opening onto the outside terrace. The large fully-fitted kitchen is open plan with a central island, walk-in pantry, bar and separate wine storage.

The gymnasium also sits on this floor and is designed for flexible use as a weights room and exercise studio with an adjoining shower room and cloakroom.

On the raised ground floor and entrance hall, there is access to a main reception room and study, which benefits from a general ceiling height, tall floor-to-ceiling windows and an arrangement to provide a 12-seat dining area, as well as two lounge areas. The rooms also boast timber flooring, twin fireplaces and two sets of French doors opening onto twin balconies overlooking the garden.

Lastly, the principal bedroom suite is on the first floor and includes the bedroom, an adjoining sitting room, twin dressing rooms and a main bathroom with a steam shower and infrared sauna. There are seven further bedrooms, two with en-suites, two with a shared en-suite and one with a separate shower room.

The house also benefits from having secured planning permission for a 16,000 sq ft home should a buyer wish to construct a larger home.

Michael Sulkin, director of Aston Chase, comments: “This house is the only one of Royal architect John Shaw’s original villas on St John’s Wood Park to have survived into the twenty-first century. Fully modernised throughout it offers all the latest specification including comfort cooling, CCTV security, Home Automation, cinema projection system and electronic curtains and blinds.”

“The property represents a rare opportunity to be close to Central London yet benefit from the clever ‘V’ shaped plot which provides a 126 ft deep by 130 ft wide rear garden, normally associated with houses much further out in the suburbs.”

The St John’s Wood Park house is priced at £32,000,000 with furniture included. For more information, you can visit both www.astonchase.com and www.beauchamp.com.
