Manhattan-inspired Salford development a hit with overseas investors

A recently-completed £85 million development in Salford has been a huge success with overseas property investors.

Downtown, six interlinked apartment blocks inspired by Manhattan in New York, was developed by the McGoff Group and has been completed 14 months ahead of schedule.

The 374-apartment development sits on the banks of the River Irwell and comprises a range of one, two and three-bedroom apartments.

All apartments were sold off-plan, with sales secured in Hong Kong, Singapore and Dubai through Alliance Property.

McGoff reports that a number of apartments were also snapped up by UK investors and locals keen to reside at the new development, located on Woden Street in the centre of Salford.

The apartments were designed by Leach Rhodes Walker Architects and built by the construction arm of the McGoff Group, alongside partners Heyrod Construction and HE Simm.

Phase one of Downtown (164 apartments) completed in April 2019. Completions for Phase two are now underway for the remaining 210 apartments, with Manchester law firms Fieldfisher and Beyond Corporate both involved in the transactions.

"Downtown has been an incredible success story for the Group, both in terms sales and the faster than anticipated build programme," says Paul Danks, group sales director at the McGoff Group.

"We are very much looking forward to our continued involvement in the residential asset management of this exciting building, ensuring our residents truly enjoy their stay at Downtown."

The development's apartments have floor to ceiling windows, offering 'outstanding views' and a contemporary open-plan layout. Some units come with private terraces, while all apartments provide ultrafast full fibre broadband from the 4th Utility.

Purchasers will also benefit from a range of high-end hotel-style services, including a 24-hour concierge, gym, thermal suite, media room, private dining area and business centre.

There is also Undercroft parking, landscaped grounds, a residents’ roof garden and terraces.

The McGoff Group says that with more people set to work from home than ever before as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, such facilities are 'very much in demand by discerning residents'.

Due to the success of sales at Downtown, the McGoff Group has established Downtown Asset Management (DAM) to oversee building management, lettings and property management, plus other services such as bespoke furniture packs.
