Godwin Developments, a national multi-sector property developer, has announced the purchase of a one-acre site, situated prominently within Sheffield city centre, which it plans to transform into a major residential Build to Rent (BTR) development.
Located on the corner of Farm Road and Queens Road, and just a five-minute walk from Sheffield’s main train station, the scheme is set to form a significant part of the Sheffield Midland Station and Sheaf Valley Development framework. Once complete, it will comprise more than 300 BTR units.
The redevelopment of the area, the focus of the next phase of the city centre regeneration, aims to establish Sheffield as a regional and national development hub, with enhanced connectivity eventually delivered by HS2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail.
Godwin’s city centre development, which also sits in close proximity to Sheffield Hallam University as well as local amenities and parks, is expected to create more than 200 temporary jobs during its construction phase, with an extra 30 permanent roles once operational.
“We are absolutely delighted to have secured this highly desirable site, situated in the Sheaf Gardens area in Sheffield,” Stuart Pratt, group development director for Godwin Developments, said. “It comes just two weeks after we announced plans for another significant project, currently underway in Stafford, that will see the construction of over 300 residential BTR homes in the Midlands.”
