The ‘QVC’ equivalent of the auction world introduced by auction firm

Connect UK Auctions – the property and land auctioneers who cover London and the Home Counties – insists it has tailored the ‘auction world’ to meet the needs of modern-day sellers and purchasers with the introduction of its Connect Realtime auction service.

The firm – which has over 100 years of property experience in its ranks – says it ‘hasn’t reinvented the wheel… just removed the incline’.

It says that, while traditional auctions have been around for centuries and the adrenaline of the experience can be immense, times are now changing and lifestyle pressures and restrictive routines are leading us all to look for alternative routes and methods to save our most precious commodity: time.

To achieve this, it has introduced the 'QVC equivalent’ of the auction world.

“You can book a holiday, apply for a job and even open a bank account using your phone, now one is able to bid on any lot, as the auction unfolds, live, in real-time. You can watch every Connect Realtime auction, from your chosen device, streamed directly from our website. Bid against other buyers at your convenience,” a statement announcing the new service said.

How does it work?

Bidders can watch the auction, live with the auctioneer and presenter, ‘solely for the benefit of the viewer’ – with all lots introduced and sold via the traditional method of auction.

The company says this ‘ground-breaking experience’ enables the biggest exposure to buyers on any particular lot.

“Your property will be marketed to thousands of potential buyers across the UK and worldwide, resulting in the highest price in the room,” the statement added in a pitch to sellers considering auctioning their home.

“We have the presence, expertise and can offer resources no other property auctioneer can,” Robert Jenkins, director of Connect UK Auctions, commented.

He added: “As a company, we have seen an enormous rise in the popularity of both residential and commercial properties selling at auction.”

Connect UK Auctions argues that the belief that a property is sold at auction only if it is distressed is no longer the case, with clients now driven by the need for convenience and time saving – something, the company claims, can be supplied through property auctions.

“Selling through an estate agent can involve very lengthy and complicated chains,” Jenkins continued. “On average, in the UK, 35% of sales fall through, causing enormous stress and financial cost to both vendor and purchaser.”

By contrast, he says, ‘selling at auction gives our clients peace of mind. With the fall of the gavel, exchange of contracts is immediate with completion generally 28 days thereafter’.

Adam Partridge, the auctioneer for Connect UK’s first auction of 2020 - which will be held at the Holiday Inn Gatwick (Povey Cross Road, Surrey, Gatwick, RH6 0BA), as well as providing ‘Real-Time Live Bidding’ - offered his thoughts on the new innovation. “I am thrilled to work with the Connect UK Auctions team and can say I am extremely excited to move forward with the times as they introduce Connect Realtime. The concept is a great one, I believe this is really the start of something wonderful.”
