New ‘Sky Bungalows’ to be released onto Herefordshire market

Luxury housebuilder Lockley Homes has announced the official release of its unique sky bungalows at its Kingsbrooke development in Colwall, near Malvern.

The concept is due to demand from the ‘lock up and leave’ generation that is increasingly looking to maximise living comfort and minimise maintenance and hassle.

Lockley Homes, a small Warwickshire-based developer run by brothers Tom and Karl Lockley, has set out its stall to provide luxury accommodation. It recently committed to building a new ‘super village’ south of Worchester.

Karl Lockley, joint managing director of Lockley Homes, says: “Our recent open day at Kingsbrooke was a great success and we have now sold the two large four bedroom detached houses and two traditionally-styled two bedroom bungalows on the site.”

“We are now releasing the remaining Sky Bungalow apartments in Connolly House on to the market. They appeal to those who may spend part of their time abroad each year, or who need a place to stay near to one of the many excellent private schools this part of the country has to offer.”

He says interested buyers may be wishing to downsize to something more suited to their needs in retirement, but principally they are looking for a lifestyle that provides maximum comfort with minimal workload.

Connolly House is designed in the manner of an Edwardian country house, surrounded by lawns and trees that are part of the community package and giving occupants maintenance-free enjoyment of their rural surroundings.

Karl adds: “The first two apartments were reserved off-plan before we had even officially released Connolly House to the open market, and we are expecting similar strong demand for the remaining four apartments.”

The accommodation is 10-20% bigger than traditional bungalows, with sizes ranging from 1,400 sq ft to 1,700 sq ft. The apartments are also around £100,000 cheaper, with prices ranging from £485,000 to £525,000.

The development boasts an impressive lobby with ‘a five-star lift that lays out the luxury standard which is continued throughout’. Buyers can choose from two large ground floor apartments, which have private terraces, while each of the four sky bungalows will have two or three balconies per unit – with the penthouses featuring multiple vaulted elevations.

Purchasers will also have bespoke kitchens with stone worktops and Bosch appliances, feature shelving with Victorian-style cornices, bespoke fitted wardrobes to the master bedroom and hand-painted finishes to all doors.

All occupiers of the sky bungalows will have the use of a private cabana in the communal gardens for outdoor dining use. Villeroy & Boch white sanitaryware and Porcelanosa wall and floor tiles are standard.

All six apartments also come with one private garage space, two allocated parking spaces and three communal visitor parking spaces.

The Kingsbrooke development lies directly opposite Colwall Gardens, a Lockley Homes’ development of two, three and four-bedroom luxury family homes and bungalows which the company completed in early 2019.
