Moda and Samsung partnership to build ‘smart’ rental homes

Moda Living has formed a technology partnership with Samsung to provide 60,000 smart home appliances across its pipeline.

The smart home is becoming a reality for millions of people around the UK, with smart speakers, lighting and thermostats most popular among consumers.

Now Moda, the UK housing brand focused on design and delivery, and Samsung are working together to build entire neighbourhoods equipped for the future.

With technology weaved into all aspects of our day-to-day lives, residents expect higher quality and better efficiency in every purchase that they make. This rings true in the residential sector, where Moda Living has introduced its Next Generation Neighbourhoods and a fundamental part of the partnership with Samsung includes bespoke product offerings to suit the needs of residents.

Moda neighbourhoods will offer a range of fully furnished tech-enabled apartments in addition to several communal facilities such as lounges, dining rooms, gyms, and flexible workspaces for maximum convenience.

Samsung’s appliances are currently present in every apartment and communal space in Moda’s flagship Angel Gardens neighbourhood, including the Samsung built-in fridge freezer and the Samsung fully integrated dishwasher. Each apartment houses a 50-inch Samsung 4K Smart TV included in the rent.

Moda has also integrated Samsung appliances within its new penthouse apartments such as Samsung’s Dual Cook Flex™ and the Family Hub™ refrigerator, with Smart features including a Wi-Fi enabled touchscreen and in-built cameras.

Oscar Brooks, director at Moda Living, comments: “Moda’s core focus is to create stylish, high-quality, sustainable neighbourhoods for residents to live, work and play, but we also recognise the importance of investing in state-of-the-art technology to enhance connectivity, simplicity and efficiency in residents’ day to day lives.”

“Championing innovation and beautiful design, Samsung presented a natural partner to supply appliances in-keeping with our future-thinking values and aesthetics.”

Brooks says Moda’s number one priority is for technology to help its residents to feel happy and safe in their home, whilst making their lives that bit easier.

“The proposition of the smart home is important for our future residents and will help distinguish our brand from the competition. Samsung is setting new standards for connected living and we are looking forward to driving our partnership forward,” he says.

Murtaza Bukhari, general manager of strategic partnerships at Samsung UK & Ireland, adds: “Moda’s focus on ‘future planning’ for the positive physical and mental health of their residents before the pandemic even unfolded was so refreshing. The fact that their focus is on the wellbeing of the community really resonated with Samsung’s vision.”

“Moda recognises that people buy smart products not because they are ‘smart’, but because the added features bring them the benefits they value. They understand that their residents want to feel safe, secure, save time and money, but remain connected to families and friends.”

There is currently a pipeline-wide supplier agreement in place for more than 60,000 appliances spanning Moda’s neighbourhoods across the living sector. The partnership was agreed at Samsung headquarters in South Korea and the brand is already working across several thousand apartments in its platform.

The goal is to build ‘a truly smart ecosystem’ by giving residents everything they need without leaving their Moda neighbourhoods.
