Vertus, the residential leasing arm of Canary Wharf Group, has launched its first pet-friendly building, 8 Water Street.

The development – the second of three Build to Rent (BTR) schemes to launch in Canary Wharf – is a collection of 174 units ranging from studio to three-bedroom apartments. It offers flexible deposit options and a range of amenities, with prices available from £1,950 pcm.

Alastair Mullens, head of Vertus, comments: “We’re really pleased to announce the launch of our second BTR building in Canary Wharf’s new district Wood Wharf, a vibrant and restful waterside community.”

“We expect to see a strong demand for these apartments as there are very few properties of this quality available on the rental market, which also have the option of keeping pets.”

He adds: “8 Water Street is much more than just a pet-friendly BTR building. Much like 10 George Street, 8 Water Street will provide a fantastic experience, exceptional amenities, five-star apartments and a high-quality lifestyle for those who chose to rent with Vertus.”

Designed by award-winning architecture firm Stanton-Williams, the building has a low-rise character which ‘intimately connects residents to the water and green spaces below’.

Inside, the interiors have been designed to the highest standard by Goddard Littlefair, boasting floor to ceiling windows, heated floors in the bathroom and high-specification appliances throughout.

8 Water Street comprises 2,917 sq ft of Club Vertus amenity space – including a private dining room, residents lounge and a TV room – and an expansive roof terrace, the largest outdoor space in the Vertus portfolio. It also includes shared private gardens, with these and the rooftop both ideal spaces for giving pets their daily exercise.

The scheme is part of Canary Wharf’s new district, Wood Warf, which will house up to 3,600 new homes, 350,000 sq ft of retail space and nine acres of public space. Already well-connected by the Jubilee and DLR lines, the arrival of the Elizabeth Line – which probably won’t now be open until mid-2022 – is set to make Canary Wharf even more accessible.

Back in August, Property Investor Today covered the first wave of residents moving into Wood Wharf.
