Canary Wharf’s newest district, Wood Wharf, is beginning to take shape, with 10 Park Drive seeing over 50 new residents to the area – the first purchasers to live on the Canary Wharf estate – since completing in June.
Joined by tenants of 10 George Street – managed by Canary Wharf’s dedicated Build to Rent arm Vertus, which opened in February – the completion of One Park Drive is expected in spring 2021, which will see a further increase in the estate’s emerging population.
A recent market report by CBRE found that East London had outperformed the rest of the city, with house prices rising by 37% in the past five years. The construction of Wood Wharf is set to further enhance the desirability of the area through the delivery of a prime neighbourhood.
The recently completed 10 Park Drive is now home to its first residents, with only 70 apartments remaining at the Stanton Williams-designed building.
Designed to create a ‘strong sense of place’ and a ‘distinct residential character’, 10 Park Drive forms a key part of the Wood Wharf masterplan. The apartments, designed by Make Architects, have been laid out to maximise the impressive views of the River Thames and Canary Wharf skyline. Internally, the fixtures and fittings have been chosen to echo the architecture of the building through ‘the warmth of timber, elegance of porcelain and champagne metal detailing’.
Buyers at the development will also benefit from access to a number of first-class amenities, including the private Sky Terrace on the 13th floor, as well as access to the first private residential Third Space fitness club complete with a swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and fitness class studio.
What’s more, a new collection of show apartments is set to open in the coming months, with the remaining one, two and three-bedroom apartments available from £900,000.
Meanwhile, the Herzog de Meuron-designed One Park Drive boasts a distinctive geometric façade formed by three unique typologies. The Loft apartments are located on floors two to nine, while the Cluster apartments form the heart of the building, located on floors nine to 32. Situated at the top of the building are the Bay apartments which all possess double-height terraces set back into the building.
The collection of 484 apartments at One Park Drive range in price from £825,000 to £3.9 million, with each featuring bespoke interior designs.
The Cluster and Bay apartments have been designed by specialists Goddard Littlefair, with homes benefitting from elegant palettes and cool textures, such as concrete walls, timber panelling, pivot doors and natural stone – all of which maximise the natural light captured through floor-to-ceiling windows.
The Lofts are designed to connect with the surrounding waterways and green spaces, with expansive wraparound terraces framed by fluted terracotta panels. Each unit within this typology also features contemporary, free-flowing spaces, complete with sliding walls, cool resin floors and unique mother-of-pearl clad bathrooms.
Canary Wharf Residential is set to launch the final phase of apartments at the development in Q4 2020, with brand new in-situ show apartments soon to complete.
Brian De’ath, director of residential sales at Canary Wharf Group, comments: “East London has seen a rise in popularity for a number of years and the gradual completion of Wood Wharf will only enhance its desirability.”
“The regeneration of the east is helping to bring a new generation of purchasers to this side of London. Canary Wharf has long been a prime destination, so to now offer the ability to live here is a huge selling point for us.”
Master planned by Allies and Morrison, Wood Wharf has been designed to create a waterside community that will complement the existing Canary Wharf estate. Once complete, Wood Wharf will comprise up to 3,600 new homes, around two million sq ft of office space, as well as 350,000 sq ft of retail fronting onto spacious high streets and boutique arcades.
In addition, over nine acres of public spaces, squares and parks, including an ‘impressive riverside boardwalk’, will bring a sense of calm in the inner city to the new district.
Residents looking to avoid public transport and use bicycles to travel across the estate and wider city will be supported by the opening of over 2,000 bike racks and storage cages on Wood Wharf. The bicycle storage facilities are being delivered by Bike Dock Solutions, a local enterprise based in Barking & Dagenham.
