In troubled times like this, we all need a little bit of escapism every now and again. And one popular form of escapism is searching for that dream holiday home abroad.
For some investors, homes overseas may already be a reality. For first-time investors, meanwhile, the downtime forced upon us by lockdown has offered the chance to do some research and to decide once and for all if an investment property in foreign climes is the right strategy.
Once things return to something resembling normal, it’s likely that popular tourist destinations such as Greece and Portugal will remain popular – even if it takes some time for visitors to return in their usual numbers.
We’ve recently covered these two countries quite extensively, asking an expert on Greek property what the country offers that others don’t, as well as exploring how Greece’s property investment market is coping with Covid-19. In Portugal, meanwhile, we asked why investors should be considering the Eastern Algarve.
Here, we return to the Iberian Peninsula’s smaller nation to check in on a special property in Quinta do Lago, a gated community and golf resort in Almancil, right in the heart of the Algarve. Quinta do Lago makes up one of the three corners of the Golden Triangle, comprising of the Algarve’s most affluent communities – and home to luxury golf resorts, bespoke shopping opportunities and Michelin-starred restaurants.
The property, which viewers can explore through a 3D virtual tour and ‘gorgeous’ video footage, sits in arguably one of the finest locations within Quinta do Lago, with ‘unrivalled views’ out over both the San Lorenzo golf course and Ria Formosa nature reserve.
It combines classical architecture and an open design, helping to make it ‘an ideal family home’. The four-bedroom property has ‘a simple but effective layout’, offering ‘great accommodation for all concerned’. It includes a spacious lower floor with laundry, sauna and pool access, with the large heated swimming pool offering vistas out over the lakes, while a secluded outdoor dining area and BBQ make for ‘classic evening entertaining’.
You will need a hefty bank balance, though, with the property available at a guide price of €5.5 million through Quinta do Lago Real Estate.
The villa, which has five bathrooms, also includes private garden space, a wine cellar, a gym and an outside kitchen.
You can carry out a 3D tour of the property here and see video footage of the villa here.
