The new retirement village by Elysian Residences, The Landsby, was officially unveiled at the grand opening event, with VIP guest Sir Trevor McDonald OBE in attendance alongside homeowners, local councillors, corporate colleagues and 170 other guests.
The Landsby, located on Merrion Avenue in Stanmore, north west London, provides a unique combination of attractive apartments, ‘five-star’ amenities, services and additional healthcare and support that is available on a flexible basis.
At the launch, Sir Trevor McDonald talked about the development and revealed the new Elysian library, curated by Foyles. The highly-respected journalist and presenter highlighted the importance of libraries in today’s modern age and spoke about his inspirational life reviewed in his new autobiography, An Improbable Life – a copy of which is being added to the Elysian library.
“The Landsby was designed to reimagine the UK retirement living market so to see this come to life is deeply satisfying,” says Gavin Stein, chief executive officer at Elysian Residences. “Now that we are officially open and operational, we look forward to welcoming more people who are interested in living here and benefitting from life at the Landsby.”
Designed by leading London architect Collado Collins, the Landsby’s architectural style deliberately references the Art Deco period seen in the local area, providing 101 one and two-bedroom private apartments, including 10 penthouses set within leafy surroundings.
Features include the entrance canopy and foyer, feature brickwork, curved walls, polished pillars, large windows and generous covered balconies.
The grand double-height entrance lobby and library spans the entire depth of the Landsby. Its ‘living library’ – which offers fiction, non-fiction and children’s books for residents’ grandchildren – will be updated according to the interest of the Landsby customers and new books can be ordered via the concierge.
The reception area opens into the coffee lounge and bar to create a space for socialising and relaxation.
Guests were given guided tours of the Landsby’s apartments and an opportunity to taste dishes in the new restaurant Benjamin’s – a brasserie-style menu curated by Head Chef Darren Kutty. Residents will have access to a private dining room which can be booked for dinner parties and celebrations. They can also store their own wine bottles in the cellar if they wish.
Meanwhile, the Landsby’s community event space will offer a wide variety of activities for homeowners, including container gardening by Flora-tec, fitness programmes available for both the body and the brain at the Postit Science ‘brain gym’, wine and whisky tasting by Majestic Wines, chocolate tasting by Hotel Chocolat and tea tasting by The Tea Makers of London.
There is also a beauty salon and treatment room area, with hairdressing and beauty treatments on offer. Additionally, there will be consultation rooms which medical professionals can use discreetly to treat guests if they should need.
The sixth floor of the development houses the luxury rooftop gymnasium, Prime Fit. The Manager, Jamie Perez, will be on hand daily to help homeowners in the gym, while Pilates, yoga and Zumba classes will be held regularly in the ground floor events space.
Elysian Residences did extensive customer research during the design process, which resulted in over 44 different apartment designs to meet customer requirements and provide exceptional living space.
Each bespoke apartment provides a ‘state-of-the-art’ specification and high-quality finishes including Miele and Siemens appliances, Hansgrohe and Duravit bathrooms and timber tongue and groove flooring.
The private apartments at the Landsby range in size from 620-725 sq ft for a one-bedroom apartment, and 900-1,700 sq ft for a two-bedroom apartment. There are also 10 penthouses on the two uppermost floors.
The Landsby is ideally located, with Stanmore Underground Station just a short walk away, providing access to the West End and the City via the Jubilee line. There are also a number of bus routes with buses travelling to a number of areas including Brent Cross shopping centre, Stanmore Country Park and the historic Bentley Priory.
Limited apartments are still available to purchase at the Landsby. Prices start from £490,000 for a one-bedroom, £720,000 for a two-bedroom and £1,210,000 for a penthouse apartment: all providing private outdoor space.
