The penthouse of a luxury boutique development located above Mayfair’s most renowned barbershop is available to let through Wetherell Mayfair Estate Agents.

Situated above Geo. F. Trumper, a historic gentleman’s barbershop operating since 1875, 9 Curzon Street aims to offer contemporary living and is available to let for £1,850 per week.

Known to Mayfair locals as Trumper’s – and given legendary status in the James Bond novels – the Geo. F. Trumper barbershop has built a devoted following over the past 145 years, offering barber services, premium grooming and haircare products, and bespoke fragrances.

Following extensive refurbishment, the trio of homes located above the barbershop at 9 Curzon Street now offer luxury rental apartments, allowing residents to enjoy the Mayfair lifestyle on their doorstep.

Trumper’s has changed little in the past century, offering customers an ‘unrivalled experience’ including the traditional ‘cut-throat’ razor shave. Founded by George Trumper, the barbershop features sophisticated mahogany panelling throughout, with shaving booths sealed off by luxe velvet curtains and a wide range of bespoke colognes and products in glass display cabinets.

Amongst elite clientele was author Ian Fleming, creator of James Bond, who had a favourite spot in the discrete shaving booths whilst he worked as a naval intelligence officer for MI5 at offices further along Curzon Street. He was such a fan of Trumper’s he named their fragrance Eucris as James Bond’s favourite.

Trumper’s remains one of the most sought-after barbershops in the capital, with the James Bond reference giving the shop international acclaim, and many customers remaining loyal for decades.

The six-storey Georgian building on Curzon Street now offers a boutique collection of apartments above the barbershop. Available to let through Wetherell, the 9 Curzon Street penthouse is located over the fourth and fifth floors providing 1,356 sq ft of ‘elegant’ living space, with direct lift access and a concierge service, available fully turnkey for residents to move in.

The penthouse’s fourth floor provides a large reception room with rich mahogany panelling that echoes Trumper’s barbershop below, with the original fireplace preserved and sash windows letting in plenty of natural light.

The adjoining kitchen has integrated Miele appliances, with black gloss worktops and handless white units for a sleek aesthetic. The kitchen has space for a four-seater table and opens onto a Juliet balcony with cast iron balustrade, with a study also on this floor

Meanwhile, the penthouse’s fifth floor offers a large master suite, with an ensuite bathroom with a waterfall shower and bespoke fitted wardrobes. The guest bedroom also offers ample storage space, and there is a family bathroom with a bathtub.

The penthouse has stairs leading to a sixth-floor private roof terrace overlooking Mayfair’s rooftops, large enough for al fresco dining or relaxing with friends. There is air conditioning throughout.

Peter Wetherell, chief executive of Wetherell, comments: “9 Curzon Street is a boutique development of exceptional quality, offering residents contemporary living in the heart of a historic building.”

“Throughout Mayfair, Geo. F. Trumper’s barbershop is well-respected, with its legendary status sealed by its inclusion in the James Bond novels. The penthouse at 9 Curzon Street is surely a ‘cut above the rest’, offering an elegant home at a renowned address.”

Originally called ‘Mayfair Row’, Curzon Street is one of Mayfair’s most historic addresses, with an illustrious list of residents both real and fictional. From Curzon Street, residents can walk to Green Park underground station for Jubilee, Piccadilly and Victoria line connections, for easy travel to the City, Canary Wharf and across central London.

Curzon Street is well-located for enjoying Mayfair’s fine dining restaurants and bars, and for leisure Green Park and Hyde Park are within a short walking distance.
