Property and DIY interior expert Georgina Burnett is releasing a contemporary book to prepare prospective buyers and homeowners in a wavering property market.

With a decade’s worth of knowledge and experience in renovating, buying and selling property, Burnett’s book – titled ‘The Street-Wise Guide to Buying, Improving and Selling Your Home’ – is a chronological step-by-step guide to jumping up the property ladder.

The guide is available from March 22 and was praised by Grand Designs as “a great source of information and inspiration for anyone wanting to transform an unloved property into a desirable home.”

While initially designed for first-time buyers, the book has information that novices and even the most seasoned property developers will need to know about purchasing, improving and selling homes in what some describe as a bleak housing climate.

Beginning with her first venture into the property market nine years ago in Folkestone, Burnett reflects on moving numerous times – 12 times in eight years whilst renting – being frugal and using all her spare time redeveloping her homes.

Burnett’s ascent up the property ladder has now resulted in her living in a seven-bedroom house in Sevenoaks, one of the most expensive areas in the UK. She is now an ambassador for National Home Improvement Month and community charity Groundwork.

She draws on this experience of property and DIY development and aims to address every key property issue that readers might have in the step-by-step guide. This includes: when to buy, why, how to get a mortgage and how to sort out insurance with up-to-date advice in an uncertain housing climate. It also details what to do if things go wrong.

With the street-wise guide, Burnett aims to show how it is possible to not only buy a home, but eventually buy the home of your dreams.
