Bed and breakfast chateau brought to the market in France

An unusual 19th century chateau is being offered to the market by French estate agents Leggett Immobilier at a massively reduced rate.

The bed and breakfast business with 15 bedrooms in the cosy spa town of St Honore Les Bains is being sold for €595,000 (£518,174), down from €940,000 (£819,595.40).

The fully modernised ‘castle’ houses four bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and kitchenette, in addition to seven spacious apartments, five of which are furnished for letting and two of which are currently private.

The property also includes 11 bathrooms, easily maintained grounds, lawns and mature shady trees with the option of buying up an acre of adjoining land, as well as private parking and terraces to the front and rear.

It has recently added a professional kitchen and table d'hôte restaurant to improve its standing as a business and increase its expansion.

The seller is reluctantly selling up due to retirement and the home is being marketed as a ‘very rewarding investment for a motivated couple’. Equipment is included along with existing contacts and business.

The home, which is in good condition, includes high-speed internet and is 2km from local amenities, isn’t far from Dijon (known for its mustard, vineyards and eclectic building styles) and sits in the historic Burgundy region, known the world over for its excellence in wine-making.
