Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers raised £16 million from 155 lots catalogued for its September auction.

The auction – the sixth of eight sales in 2018 – took place across five days in five venues from September 10-14.

James Emson, managing director, commented: “There is no doubt that we are facing challenging conditions for a number of reasons. However, the property and land auction market has been consistently cyclical over a great many years, with peaks and troughs always to be expected.”

“We continue to do exceptionally well for both vendors and purchasers with some excellent lots listed at Clive Emson auctions and successful conclusions achieved for all parties.”

He said that with property auctions remaining a viable method for both sellers and buyers, the public’s faith in bricks and mortar remains ‘undiminished’.

Highlights of the September auction sale include:

·         Former public toilets with a view close to the harbour in Newlyn, Cornwall, which sold on behalf of Cornwall Council for £73.000 on a freehold guide of £15,000-plus.

·         A redundant 1960s former pump house measuring just 19ft x 12ft in East Farleigh, Maidstone. with development potential went under the hammer for £40,000.

·         An equestrian centre, including a stable yard and stable block with residential redevelopment potential at Ewhurst, Surrey, sold for £521,000.

·         A three-bedroom detached chalet on the seafront with access to the beach in the coastal suburb of Jaywick, Essex, sold for £60,000.

Clive Emson holds a regional auction at five locations every six weeks, with the seventh sale of 2018 taking place at the following venues:
