The first Croydon Property Show will be held this autumn and will highlight all that’s on offer to property hunters across the area.

Companies like Bellway Homes, Optivo, Leon House, HSBC and Red Loft have already signed up to exhibit their range of homes and services at the event, which takes place on Saturday 29 September from 9:30am-4pm.

The show comes at a time when Croydon is thriving, with a £5.25 billion regeneration programme firmly underway and construction for Westfield set to begin in 2019 – its doors opening in 2023.

What’s more, the £30 million refurbishment of Fairfield Halls will give Croydon a world-class theatre and music venue, while plans to redevelop Selhurst Park in Crystal Palace are also in motion.

Old meets new in this bustling town; the historic Surrey Street Market (dating back to the 13th century) is complemented by modern outlets – such as the popular BoxPark, situated next to East Croydon station.

Transport links are also favourable, with Victoria and London Bridge roughly 15 minutes away. Despite this, there are plans to redevelop and expand East Croydon Station. Overground routes from West Croydon offer quick and easy access to Canary Wharf and the East End, while Tramlink provides direct routes to Wimbledon and south London.

Martin Skinner, chief executive of Inspired Asset Management and Inspired Homes, commented: “Croydon remains one of London’s most affordable boroughs and with everything that’s going on it’s a great place to buy whether you’re buying for the first time and after a cool, up-and-coming place to put down roots or an experienced investor looking for long-term capital and rental growth.”

Natalie Hughes, head of sales for Bellway South London, added: “Croydon has become a prime spot for property-seekers. Rightmove figures revealing that the average house price in Croydon has risen 10% in the last year.”

Richard Plant, partner at SHW, said that with accommodation ranging from small, reasonably-priced micro flats by Pocket Living and Inspired Homes to McCarthy and Stone and Churchill retirement accommodation, it’s no wonder so many new residents are ‘flooding into the borough’.
