Plans for 1,100-home Ipswich neighbourhood given green light

Planning consent has been awarded for a major mixed-use scheme on the edge of Ipswich, which will feature 1,100 new homes, of which around 15% will be devoted to affordable housing.

The new neighbourhood, known as Henley Gate, will be delivered by Crest Nicholson and will form part of a new Garden Suburb for the area, also including a large country park, a primary school, sports pitches, a community centre and retail space.

The Henley Gate scheme, which should get underway later this year, is supported by a draft allocation in Ipswich Borough’s Local Plan and is the first neighbourhood to receive a resolution to grant planning permission from the wider Ipswich Garden Suburb scheme, which will eventually provide up to 3,500 new homes.
