With over 102,000 total visitors in 2017, The Homebuilding & Renovating Show saw its busiest year ever.
The show, which witnessed a 9% year on year increase in visitors, saw its final event take place, which was held at The Bath & West Showground from November 18 to November 19 2017.
The record attendance reflects Homebuilding & Renovating’s Self & Custom Build Market Report, which revealed a 6.25% year on year increase in the self and custom build industry, averaging an industry value of £6 billion in three years.
Forecasts predict that the sector will reach 16,500 housing completions by 2020 at its current pace, which reinforces the show’s strategy in delivering resources for people who are eager to build their own home.
Nick Noble, commercial & events director at Future PLC, believes that this growth in visitor numbers reinforces two key considerations.
“The first is the undiminished appetite from consumers who see their homes as their number one asset and so want them to reflect the very latest technologies and innovations available to the self-build and renovation sector,” he said.
“The second,” he continued, “is that these events have a premium, highly targeted exhibitor database, offering access to products and services that are not available anywhere else.”
Noble suggests that this is ‘critical’ for those wishing to spend over £100,000 on materials, as The Homebuilding & Renovating Show enables consumers to make informed buying decisions.
The show covered key venues this year, including Birmingham, Glasgow, London, Edinburgh, Harrogate, Surrey and Somerset. The event organisers also plan to strengthen their brand by launching another exhibition at Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre in January 2019.
Noble added: “Yet again we have attracted a strong, committed audience which positions The Homebuilding & Renovating Show as the clear market leader in its space.”
Over 1,900 exhibitors participated throughout the year in total, covering a variety of interest from extensions, conversions, home DIY, planning permission, interiors, lighting; doors, windows, renewable technologies, heating systems, project insurance, energy efficiency, home insurance, building regulations and more.
The 2018 show in Birmingham will be held at the NEC from March 22 2018 to March 25 2018. For further details on upcoming exhibitions, visit www.homebuildingshow.co.uk.
