Over £17m raised at SDL Birmingham auction

SDL Auctions Bigwood’s latest Birmingham auction saw the second highest sale total ever recorded in the West Midlands, with properties from Plymouth to Glasgow raising £17.6 million.

Eight of the 125 lots offered sold eventually for £500,000 or more, with sale prices ranging from £3,000 to £1.5 million.

Gurpreet Bassi, head of residential auctions Midlands at SDL Auctions, noticed an increasing number of buyers from London are aspiring to branch out from the ‘over-heated’ market in the south east, with many of them attending the Birmingham-based auction.

A wide variety of property sold, ranging from garages to shopping parades.

Located at 1 West Road, Halesowen with a guide price of £30,000, a three-bedroomed end-of-terrace house was eventually sold for £95,000.

On offer with a guide price of £250,000, May Day House, 7 Lower Hillmorton Road, Rugby was sold for a successful bid of £360,000.

Bassi added: “We are now looking forward to our next Birmingham auction on December 14 and already experiencing high levels of valuation requests.”
