There were 158 lots on offer at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Liverpool city centre last week, with 80% of the properties on offer selling under the hammer, which as a percentage is above the national trend of around 75%.

The sale, which took place last Wednesday, raised just over £9.5m, supported by £3m worth of property sales prior to the auction.

Among the auction highlights was an unmodenised two-bedroom house in Allerton, L3, which sold for £86,000, but the house could very well command a resale value of around £130,000 once the house has been refurbished.

Elsewhere, a two-bedroom end of terrace house on Whittier Street, L8, also offers potential to add significant value following repair and modernisation, a three-storey mid-terraced property comprising of a ground floor retail unit together with six rooms above would be suitable for a number of uses, subject to any relevant planning consents, while a two-bedroom terrace property on Stockbridge Street would provide a high rental yield of 10%-plus.

Sutton Kersh associate director Cathy Holt said: “This was a mega auction! We had a massive 158 lots for sale and sold 80% of those.

“We sold 20 properties prior to the auction which raised £3m before the day – helping to raise an auction of £9.5m.

“We had a standing room all day and over 50 phone bidders!”
