When you’re looking at buying a home, you may be a little disappointed that you don’t feel the “warmth of home”. This is especially the case when you are buying a new building or an older property where the previous owners have already completely moved out. Fear not, the magic is in the details.

Carpets and other floor coverings

Let’s start with the floor. If there are cold tiles and old linoleum all over the property, don’t despair. You can solve it all with a warm carpet or a new floating floor (however, even here, a small piece of carpet is suitable).

A carpet is an element that’s warm to walk on, and it’s also pleasantly soft. Even without slippers, you’ll feel very comfortable on it. If you don’t want to cover the entire room with a carpet, we recommend placing one around the bed, sofa, or even a rug in a bathroom. In short, it should be everywhere where you’ll likely step barefoot on the floor or not wearing slippers in one place for a long period.

Furniture – large and small

Bare walls can give you very unpleasant feelings. But everything changes when the first furniture moves into the property. Of course, the biggest pieces will be the most helpful at first – living room wall units and sofa, wardrobe, bed and of course not forgetting the kitchen unit and dining table. But these pieces of furniture certainly won’t be enough by themselves.

Therefore, you’ll also need to buy smaller furniture. As a rule, one or two chests of drawers, bedside tables, etc. are placed in the bedroom. You also mustn’t miss various shelves, hangers, armchairs, bookcases. Your home will look much better now.

The next step is accessories

But we’re still not done. The property needs to be fine-tuned with the help of accessories. You should place a few pictures on an empty wall and add more shelves if you still have some free space.

Indoor flowers will bring your home to life. Don’t skimp in this regard and place one or two plants in each room. We must not forget various figurines, decorative vases, dishes or ingredients from your holiday. You can surely advise yourself in this regard.

Moving in

An ordinary property becomes a home from the moment you move in. You’ll quickly discover which details still need fine-tuning in order to feel comfortable at home. When you light a candle in the evening or when the first Sunday lunch at home and you gradually get to know your neighbours, you’ll very quickly grow fond of your new home.

But it’s the experiences that make the main thing. One day you’ll remember what you experienced at home with your partner and your children. Suddenly, you’ll find that the property that left you empty and cold has naturally become an integral part of your life.
