Who are Doran Estates, and what’s your role in the business?

Doran Estates are a Liverpool-based property investment and management agency. We help UK and overseas clients build income-generating residential portfolios in strong rental markets.

I’m Alan Evans, Operations Director. I manage our day-to-day operations, oversee lettings and compliance, and ensure our investors get consistent performance and a service they can rely on. My job is to make sure every property we manage is operating efficiently and generating the return our clients expect.

What makes Doran Estates different from other investment agents?

We don’t just recommend a deal, we manage it, monitor it and report on it.

That ongoing responsibility shapes how we work. We only source assets we believe in, in areas we understand. Our clients trust that we’re focused on results, not commissions. That long-term, fully managed approach is what we believe sets us apart.

What’s your typical client profile?

We work with first-time landlords, experienced investors, and overseas buyers looking for hands-off rental income. Most want solid, steady returns.

Some clients are building long-term portfolios for retirement. Others are diversifying outside of equities or crypto. The one thing they all want is confidence that their property investment is being handled properly, especially if they are not based in the UK.

How does Doran Estates support property investors?

We provide a fully managed investment solution. From sourcing and due diligence to lettings, compliance and maintenance, we handle every stage.

We also act as a single point of contact for landlords. That means fewer headaches and more transparency. Investors can check performance and income with clear reporting and know their assets are in expert hands.

What’s your view on the current UK rental market?

The fundamentals are strong. Demand is high, supply is tight, and rents continue to rise in key cities like Liverpool and Manchester.

For investors, that means better yields and fewer voids but it also makes good management more important than ever. A well-run property will outperform, and we’re focused on helping clients take full advantage of the current market conditions.

Is now a good time to invest in property?

Yes, if you’re buying with a clear plan and not expecting overnight returns. Yields remain strong and tenant demand is high.

We’re seeing a lot of interest in completed stock and off-plan developments in high-demand areas. The key is to work with someone who truly knows the market.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give someone starting as a landlord?

Know your numbers. Understand the real return after costs, not just the headline yield. And never cut corners on compliance or management.

What’s next for Doran Estates?

We’re expanding our reach into new regions and working with more international investors. The focus is on quality stock in high-demand areas.

We’re also building out our project management team to support clients adding value through refurbishment or development. Everything we do is about helping our clients grow their portfolios in a sustainable, professional way.
