Uniplaces, the leading online accommodation platform for international students, recently announced that it had met the significant landmark of booking over 150,000 nights of accommodation for its customers since its launch in 2013.

Uniplaces moved its headquarters to London in the summer of 2013, after being originally founded in Lisbon in 2012 by three young entrepreneurs: Ben Grech, Miguel Amaro and Mariano Kostelec.

The latest milestone comes on the back of a number of recent successes. These include the forging of key partnerships with owners and managers of major UK student accommodation, such as Urbanest, UNITE, iQ Student Accommodation and Fresh Student Living. As a result of these collaborations, Uniplaces offers London students a choice of over 11,000 rooms in the capital, as well as 4,000 in Lisbon and 1,000 in Madrid, where Uniplaces recently launched.

The business was originally set up to meet the rising demand for high quality and accessible accommodation for international students, whilst also helping landlords to capitalise as efficiently as possible on this growing trend. There are currently over 300,000 international students enrolled in British universities, and this is set to go up by 28,000 new students by 2020. Up to this point, students from 82 different nationalities have booked rooms through Uniplaces in London, with popular home countries including China, India, Nigeria, Spain, France and Portugal.

"It's been an incredible year for Uniplaces, as we've grown from a small start-up company to being a leader in the student accommodation market,” Ben Grech, co-founder and CEO of Uniplaces, said. “London is quickly becoming a top destination for international students wanting to study abroad and we've been growing our business around this increasing demand. The partnerships we've formed with some of the country’s most respected businesses have given us a great boost as we look to expand out across the UK and Europe in the near future.”
