Three landmark hotels - The Malton Killarney, Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel and the Metropole Hotel Cork – are available as part of Ireland’s first hotel portfolio sale for almost a decade.

Having attracted significant interest from both domestic and international buyers, the hotels’ owners have decided to market them for sale by private treaty through Savills Hotels & Leisure. The hotels can be purchased as a portfolio or individual lots, and come with a combined guide price of €30m.

The Malton, Killarney (formerly the Great Southern Hotel) is a four star hotel that contains 172 bedrooms and is set within twelve acres of gardens. The well-established hotel has been trading for over 160 years.

Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel, in the heart of Kilkenny City, is a four star establishment with 118 bedrooms, conference and banqueting facilities and a leisure centre with a 21m swimming pool. The sale incorporates the Ormonde Street Car Park, which has 712 car parking spaces over eight levels.

The Metropole Hotel, meanwhile, is a three star hotel with 112 bedrooms. It’s located within Cork city centre, overlooking the River Lee. The hotel dates from 1897 and facilities include the Met Bar, The Riverview Restaurant and Waterside Café.

“This is the first portfolio of Irish hotels to be offered for sale in almost a decade,” said Tom Barrett, Head of Hotels & Leisure Savills.

“It is an excellent opportunity to acquire three highly regarded and profitable hotels and is a unique opportunity for both existing hotel owners and operators and those seeking to enter the Irish hotel market for the first time. All hotels are trading very well and are generating significant profits. We expect considerable interest in this portfolio,” he added.

These three hotels are being sold as going concerns and the trade is not impacted.
