In a major boost to the county’s economy, David Wilson Homes, a leading housebuilder in Worcestershire, has announced proposals to open two new sites that will create over 100 local jobs.

The expansion plans, which include Lyttelton Grange on Stourbridge Road in Hagley and Tenbury View on Oldwood Road in Tenbury Wells, come after a strong recovery in the housing market following the launch of the government’s flagship Help to Buy scheme.

David Wilson currently has a number of popular developments in the area including Abacot Fields in Honeybourne, Broadheath Meadows in Worcester, Enfield Gardens in Redditch and The Larches in Offenham. As the homebuilder mostly employs local sub-contractors and tradesmen, local businesses and people are likely to profit directly from the new jobs created.

“We have seen demand for new homes expand very quickly over the year and the new sites we are opening mean that there will be more choice for local buyers,” said John Fitzgerald, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Mercia.

“And it is good news for the local economy as in addition to the local construction jobs underpinned by building the new homes, the local people who move into the new housing will also spend their wages locally.”

Fitzgerald also said that the new jobs wouldn’t be the only piece of good news for the people of Worcestershire in 2015. “The really great news this year is the continuation of Help to Buy Equity mortgages, which means first time buyers and those moving up the housing ladder can get moving with just a 5% deposit, a 20% equity loan, and a 75% mortgage,” he added.

David Wilson Homes Mercia are building new homes at the following developments in Worcester: Abacot Fields, located on Station Road, is priced from £500,000; Broadheath Meadows, located on Newtown Road, has three and four bedroom homes priced from £235,000; Enfield Gardens, located on Harris Close, has four bedroom homes priced from £250,000; and The Larches, located on Main Street, has just two four bedroom houses available (priced from £330,000).
